From City Airport
Go to London City Airport DLR Station and take the Docklands Light Railway towards Bank Station. Change at Canning Town Underground Station and take the Jubilee Line towards Stratford. Change at Westham Station for the Underground District Line Station (Green Line) heading East bound and it is four stops to Stepney Green Underground Station. From Stanstead Airport
Take the Stanstead Express Rail Train to London Liverpool Street. This should take approximately 55 minutes. At Liverpool Street Station, Change to the Hammersmith & City (Pink) Line heading Eastbound and get off at Stepney Green Station (Takes Approximately 8 minutes - 3 stops). From Gatwick Airport
Take the Gatwick Express Rail Train to London Victoria (Takes about 30 minutes). Area - Now and Then

Whitechapel is most known for probably the world’s most famous unidentified murderer, Jack the Ripper, who stalked Whitechapel in 1888, murdering prostitutes and eluding police. The Royal London Hospital has been in Whitechapel since 1757.

Whitechapel was filled to bursting with all types of immigrants by the 19th century, and the place eventually became known for prostitution – during the 1880s there were 80 brothels and about 1400 prostitutes within Whitechapel’s boundaries. Many of the slums were torn down or eventually bombed during WWII, and the area today, although not overtly posh, has almost no resemblance to the infamous area that was synonymous with vicious crime and murder.
